Course Work

In this section, you will find a description of the courses I took during my time at Clemson. As a Language and International Business student, I took Spanish and English classes that furthered my business knowledge. I also noted which classes I took while abroad in Spain.

Language-Oriented Instructions

  • SPAN 3050 Intermediate Spanish Conversation and Composition I

    • This course was very grammar-focused with speaking and writing. Used different practices such as in-class writing assignments and oral presentations to ensure grammar was used correctly and effectively.

  • SPAN 3060 Spanish Composition for Business

    • This course focused on how to write for business purposes in Spanish and what to look out for when communicating with people from Spanish-speaking countries.

  • SPAN 3160 Spanish for International Business I (Sevilla)

    • Learned a variety of vocabulary in Spanish for communicating for business purposes. I took this class abroad, so we were able to visit businesses in Sevilla and learn more about how they function and what they value.

  • SPAN 4160 Spanish for International Business II

    • More in-depth focus on conducting business in a foreign country. Studied different Spanish-speaking countries and ways that are most effective when communicating with someone whose first language isn’t the same as yours.

 Culture and Literature Courses

  • SPAN 3070 The Hispanic World: Spain

    • Analyzed the culture in Spain and how it can vary from region to region. Focused a lot on history as well, especially with old architecture and art and how it helped form today’s culture.

  • SPAN 3080 The Hispanic World: Latin America

    • Analyzed the culture in different Latin American countries. Conducted projects such as analyzing a specific country and presenting to the class about the culture there.

  • SPAN 3130 Spanish Literature Survey I (Sevilla)

    • I took this class abroad where we focused on literature more specifically from Spain. Analyzed a lot of shorter stories and different places in Sevilla and then went and visited those places. Wrote papers in Spanish about the literature as well.
