Internship Experience
As a part of the requirements for Language and International Business, I was required to complete an internship abroad or in the US with an international company. I decided to complete mine while in Sevilla!

I completed my internship with a company called Senderismo Sevilla Viajes, which translates to Sevilla Hiking Trips. They are a hiking travel agency that organizes group trips around the country to complete different hikes. Some only last a few hours, and others last up to a week. It is a unique company; there are not many like it in the country. As an intern, I helped with marketing in Spanish and English. I published a lot on their Facebook pages and Instagram to increase their members and customers. In addition, I assisted in translating documents and their website from Spanish to English. This proved to be a little difficult at first because I couldn't just translate the words directly; I had to translate in a way to make sure the English version made sense and was dramatically correct. This is something an online translator cannot do. Translating these documents and their website truly helped advance my Spanish language skills.

Overall, I am very glad I completed my internship abroad. Working with a company in a different country helped to expand my cultural knowledge and awareness in many ways. I believe it is so important to experience other cultures because there are always so many aspects that are completely different from the culture we experience here in the United States. In Spain, I noticed that the work culture at my internship was much more relaxed; they weren't rushing to complete as many tasks as possible. My supervisor took the time to get to know me more personally; he wanted to know more about my life in the U.S. and why I decided to study abroad. It was nice to develop that personal relationship. I wasn't used to it in all my work experiences here in the U.S. Completing an internship with a company abroad is not something a lot of students have the chance to experience. I am very grateful to have had this opportunity and it is an experience I will always remember.
Attached below is a paper I wrote for my LAIB 4000 class. It is a reflection on my internship abroad and all the cultural elements I learned about and experienced.
